INR 63 Lakh cash prizes awarded to winners of iCreate EVangelise ’22; Innovators form partnerships with industry leaders
iCreate EVangelise '22 recognised innovators and startups working on solutions for India's electric vehicle (EV) sector, awarding ₹63 lakh in cash prizes to winners of the six-month innovation challenge. The second edition of the initiative brought together innovators, startups, students, researchers and institutions from across India, all working toward advancing the country's EV ecosystem. The challenge focused on three key areas of electric mobility: vehicle traction, energy storage and vehicle infrastructure.
Recognising the Best EV Innovations
After a detailed evaluation process, six innovators emerged as winners across two Technology Readiness Level (TRL) categories.
TRL > 04 Category
First Place: Gyrodrive Machineries
Second Place: C Electric Automotive Drives
Third Place: Fasmho Energy Systems
TRL < 04 Category
First Place: Cancrie
Second Place: Vijigi Energy
Third Place: INTAKT EV Hybrids
The winners received cash prizes of INR 10 lakh, INR 7.5 lakh and INR 5 lakh for the first, second and third positions, respectively. The challenge also awarded six consolation prizes of INR 3 lakh each.
In addition, the top three winners in the TRL > 04 category were eligible for INR 50 lakh in incubation support, subject to agreed terms and conditions.
Solutions for India’s EV Sector
The winning startups developed technologies to address key challenges in electric mobility.
Gyrodrive Machineries, based in Bhopal, developed magnet-free switched reluctance motors. Its technology uses locally sourced components and aims to reduce dependence on rare-earth magnets.
C Electric Automotive Drives, based in Kochi, developed indigenous electric drive components. The solution aims to help Indian EV manufacturers customise motor controllers and reduce costs.
Fasmho Energy Systems, based in Bengaluru, developed a Smart Battery Management System. The technology is designed to support the safe and efficient operation of battery packs.
Connecting Innovators with Industry
Industry engagement was a key part of EVangelise’22.
The programme gave innovators opportunities to present their solutions to industry leaders. It also helped them explore partnerships and potential business opportunities.
Organisations that supported and engaged with the programme included BPCL, Mahindra Logistics, Tata Stryder, JOY e-bike, Turntide Technologies and Rotomag, among others.
These industry interactions helped innovators understand real-world challenges and explore opportunities to take their technologies closer to the market.
From Innovation to Impact
EVangelise ’22 created a platform for innovators to move their ideas beyond the prototype stage.
Through mentoring, technical evaluation, industry engagement and incubation support, the programme helped promising EV technologies gain greater visibility and market exposure.
The programme also highlighted the growing depth of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.
